A system specifically developed for documentation and administration of fiber optic networks.

X-Opto is a scalable and reliable tool to manage and document locations, cables, boxes, ODF's, fiber connections, measurement data, fiber splices, patches, equipment, customers, etc., included in a fiber optical network.

Our experience tell us that the documentation part when constructing and/or manage a fiber network is often at the bottom of the "to-do" list. One of our goals is therefore to offer an intuitive, fast and easy-to-use system to make the documentation work become almost a pleasure.
A picture tells you more than a thousand words and the information is much more understandable if presented graphically in a clear and user friendly way. Almost every view and report is graphical. The graphical objects are interactive so you can point and click them to navigate to other or more detailed information, or by drag-and-drop to move equipment within or between racks, or initiate fiber splicing.

Since the system is very intuitive and easy to use you'll get a short "startup time". If you are familiar with Windows (point and click) and have read the "Getting Started" which comes with the installation, you will almost immediately start documenting your network. Moreover, if you have access to electronc information about your locations and manholes, e.g. in Excel-format, you can import it and you really get a flying start with the system.

The information in the system is dynamic, i.e., when something has changed (for example, some fibers have been spliced) related views are automatically updated to view the new state. All views and reports are always generated on-the-fly out of the information stored in the database. There is no need to update documents manually or to work with tedious dialogs (notwithstanding - since you can store electronic documents such as pictures, text documents and so on, in the system, there are some static information).

Registration of new information and updating of existing information is fast and secured by the use of preconfigured and user defined values. This also eliminates typing errors.

The system is a client/server system where all information is stored in a database. The system works with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and can be used by any number of users restricted only by the number of user licenses. The database engine is not included in the system.

Note that X-Opto works excellent with the free Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (you can download it when downloading your X-Opto evaluation copy).
